Roll of Honour
Kirkby Stephen Wesleyan chapel, which is still in use, has the sad distinction of having lost one of its own on the very last day of the conflict.
The nine men listed are:

Pte. J.R. Burrell 21857 6th Bn. Border Regt. died 6 May 1917
Pte. G.R. Calvert 12972 6th Bn. East Lancashire Regt. died 25 April 1918
Corporal Wheeler M. Chapman T3/026138 Army Service Corps died 11 November 1918
2nd Lieut. J.D. Hewitson 8th Bn. South Staffordshire Regt. No trace of this man can be found, except that he attended school in Kirkby Stephen from 1894.
Pte. R. Horsfield 23698 3rd Bn. Border Regt died 4 September 1916
Pte. I.C. Lamb 25035 9th Bn. East Surrey Regt. died 14 October 1916 aged 19
Pte. N. Parsley 21881 5th Bn. Border Regt. died 4 July 1915 aged 17
Wireless Telegraph Operator R.W. Savage 247WTS H.M.S. “Newmarket” died 17 July 1917
