Romiley Methodist Church

Three churches on one site

By Brian Thornley

This is my home Church (opened in 1982) where I am Organist. I am also a keen photographer so I love to share images especially of the Church which I have attended for many years.

Here are some archive pictures  of the old Church built 1866 burned down 1898! Followed by pictures of the next church which lasted until 1978 when dry rot was found!

In 1898  the Church Treasurer received a bill from Stockport Fire Brigade for "putting out the fire". He refused to pay it because by the time the Fire Brigade arrived there was virtually nothing left of the building.
